One of the tools I mentioned previously.

Let me know what you think.

No need to buy new razorblades

This is a short video illustrating what I mean about our economic paradigm:

The purpose of this blog

Hi,

My name is Bob Ocegueda.  I am a retired cartoonist/illustrator.  A thought has been bothering me for a long time.  I has been clear to me that the present economic system is flawed, or as many people prefer to say, unsustainable.  Another way to say "unsustainable" is "suicidal".  That is, the very same things that make our economy look good on paper, that is "rate of growth", "consumer spending", GDP, etc. are the very same things that, in the long run (not so long at our present time), will kill us.

I know that our present "economic system" is not made by some immutable law of Nature.  It is a human creation that has been evolving over a long period of time, therefore, we humans can change it, once we realize the inevitable consequence of continuing the practice.

So, my nagging question has been:
What would a rational (therefore sustainable) economy look like?  How would it work?

It is my hope that in this blog we can enter into a conversation that will begin to give us a clear mental picture of where we can go from here.

I think it is particularly timely now that the "Occupy..." movement is sprouting all over the world like wild desert flowers after a heavy rainstorm.

Our economic paradigm is being questioned... and found wanting.

What will the new one look like?  How will it work?  It hasn't been invented yet.  We, the human species, is in the process of finding out.

I hope to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Bob Ocegueda

PS  I suppose that a "new kind of money" would be the dissemination of tips so that we don't need to use the present form of money.  If you have any suggestions, please post them here.  Thanks.
